Holding Space for Your Inner Child

Holding Space for Your Inner Child

When emotions rise, the body remembers.
A tight chest. A rush of heat. A sudden urge to withdraw or fix everything at once.

These aren’t signs that something is wrong with you—these are signs that something in you is asking to be seen.

It’s easy to think the goal of healing is to become calm all the time. But real nervous system healing isn’t about never feeling triggered—it’s about knowing what to do when you are.

Your nervous system isn’t your enemy.
It’s the messenger of your younger self.

The Inner Child Still Lives in the Body

Every unspoken fear, unmet need, and moment of shame leaves an imprint.
Those imprints live in the body long after the mind has forgotten the story.

When your child self felt unsafe, she didn’t have the tools to process that fear—so she stored it.
Now, as an adult, you’re the one who can offer her what she never received: presence, patience, and permission to feel.

This is the work we do in Take Back Your Light—not to erase the past, but to re-parent the parts of you that didn’t get to finish their sentences.

Healing Doesn’t Mean Forcing Calm

When we try to “fix” our feelings or make our body quiet down, we recreate the same dynamic that hurt us in the first place—one of rejection and control.

What if, instead, you tried this:

Next time your chest tightens or your stomach drops, place your hand there and say:

“I see you. You’re safe now. You can rest.”

That’s nervous system regulation in its truest form—connection, not suppression.

Your healing isn’t about getting rid of the inner child.
It’s about giving her a home inside you.
